Never just go by what's on the outside. You must dig beneath to find the real substance of what can be hidden by a pleasing exterior.
A beautiful flower might have roots that are tangled, looking for sustenance. A masterpiece in a golden frame might be hung on a loose nail, moments away from crashing the art into pieces.
We must look at the people in our lives in the same manner. If you take time to learn what exists beneath the exterior, you might find you can provide nourishment, strength, support, encouragement.
We all look at things that are appealing to the eye, and most times we move on. Things satisfy us for a few seconds, but they don't provide the depth we need to be a complete person.
It's when we stop and take in the whole entity that we can appreciate the energy we receive that provides relationships for us.
We must be willing to give love, compassion, empathy and share our soul. Digging beneath the surface provides our humanity. We learn how to be and not just how to exist.
